Goal

Training of highly qualified specialists possessing advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of modern directions of fundamental biological sciences and pedagogical technologies, possessing skills in organizational work and managerial activities.

The graduate is awarded the academic degree Master of Pedagogical Sciences in the educational program 7M015 “Biology”.

Masters of Pedagogical Sciences may hold positions in accordance with the Standard Qualification Characteristics of teaching positions and equivalent persons (with amendments and additions as of 20.07.2022).

As a result of training in the educational program 7M01537 “Biology”, the following key competencies are formed:

KC3. Competencies in the field of socio-pedagogical activity
3.1 Knows the main achievements, problems, and trends in the development of higher education pedagogy in Kazakhstan and abroad; the legal and regulatory foundations of the functioning of the education system.
3.2 Uses in the educational process knowledge of the fundamental bases, modern achievements, problems, and trends in the development of biology.
3.3 Uses in professional activity the main international and national documents on the rights of children and children with special educational needs, the values and principles of inclusive education.
3.4 Possesses the basics of scientific-methodological and educational-methodological work in higher education institutions.
3.5 Develops and implements individually-oriented programs aimed at eliminating learning difficulties and adapting to the educational environment, possesses skills in psychological diagnostics and situation design.

KC4. Ability to organize, plan, and conduct biological research using a wide range of methods and information-communication technologies
4.1 Uses various types of information and communication technologies: internet resources, cloud and mobile services for searching, storing, processing, protecting, and distributing information.
4.2 Possesses computer skills, including in global computer networks.
4.3 Possesses the basics of organizing and planning scientific research, analyzes, systematizes, and generalizes research results.
4.4 Uses modern methodology for solving research tasks.
4.5 Has skills in working with software packages in informatics, applied IT solutions, and global Internet resources for effective work of a biologist-researcher.

KC5. Competencies in theoretical biology
5.1 Knows the conceptual and theoretical foundations of biology, its place in the general system of sciences and values, its history of development, and current state.
5.2 Knows the structure, molecular organization, executive and regulatory mechanisms of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell functions; general methodological approaches used in genetics.
5.3 Knows molecular and genetic mechanisms of progressive evolution.

KC6. Competencies in bioecology and biological resources
6.1 Knows the principles of classification of living organisms, similarities and differences between taxa; analyzes phylogenetic relationships and evolutionary paths of the plant world.
6.2 Possesses skills in identification and description of biological diversity, its assessment using modern methods of quantitative information processing, and understands the significance of biodiversity for the stability of the biosphere; can evaluate the state of biodiversity.
6.3 Can conduct monitoring studies to investigate ecosystem stability and conserve biological diversity.

KC7. Competencies in applied biological problems
7.1 Knows the main problems of rational use of biological resources of Kazakhstan.
7.2 Knows the structural-functional organization, stability, and dynamics of biogeocenoses.
7.3 Develops measures for the conservation and restoration of the animal biodiversity of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
7.4 Possesses skills to substantiate the physiological bases of practical measures to increase plant productivity and stability.
