Objective

Training of specialists possessing knowledge consistent with the current level of scientific development regarding psychophysiological and psychoanatomical mechanisms, trends, and regularities of understanding and systemic perception of processes occurring at the subjective, neurophysiological, and molecular-genetic levels, capable of implementing the educational process with consideration of individual interests and abilities of learners, using modern pedagogical technologies and achievements of biological and psychological sciences.

Graduates are awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Education under the educational program “Biology–Psychology”.

Bachelors of Education may hold positions in accordance with the Standard Qualification Characteristics of Positions of Pedagogical Employees and Persons Equivalent to Them (as amended and supplemented as of October 31, 2018).

KC 1. General Educational Competence

1.1 Ability to understand and analyze worldview-related, social, and personally significant philosophical issues; to analyze the main stages and patterns of the historical development of Kazakhstan, its place and role in the modern world for the purpose of forming civic consciousness and developing patriotism; to navigate political, social, and economic processes.

1.2 Possession of basic knowledge in natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and economic disciplines, contributing to the formation of a highly educated personality with a broad outlook and a culture of thinking.

1.3 Ability to formulate and practically solve problems in the fields of biology and psychology; to use information technologies in professional activity; to teach in secondary specialized educational institutions; to successfully carry out research and educational activities; and to possess skills for acquiring new knowledge necessary for everyday professional activity and for continuing education at the master’s level.

KC 2. Information Competence

2.1 Information and Communication Competence
A set of integrated personal qualities of a teacher, including the ability to independently search for, select, structure, organize, present, and transmit information using information and communication technologies.

2.2 Information and Technological Competence
The teacher’s ability, as a professional, to engage in activities related to the use of computing and office equipment and information technologies, and to apply these technologies in everyday life and educational activities.

2.3 Information and Analytical Competence
A set of personal qualities of a teacher manifested in the ability to generate new knowledge, carry out forecasting, and make managerial decisions based on the analysis of available information, ensuring readiness for independent research activity.

KC 3. Professional Competences

3.1 Ability to organize and plan the educational process under the conditions of updated educational content.

3.2 Knowledge of methodological systems and techniques, and possession of skills for their selection and application in professional activity.

3.3 Ability to determine and organize forms and methods for assessing learners’ knowledge within the updated educational program, including the use of criterion-based assessment.

3.4 Ability to conduct classes using inclusive education methodologies.

KC 4. Research Competences

4.1 Possession of skills for conducting biological research.

4.2 Ability to collect and carry out primary processing of information, results of psychological observations, and diagnostic data.

4.3 Ability to conduct psychological research procedures; to design plans for theoretical and experimental study of measured characteristics; to record quantitative empirical data and provide qualitative interpretation.

4.4 Ability to analyze trends in modern science; to identify promising areas of scientific research; to select research topics; and to develop methodologies for conducting scientific and pedagogical research.

KC 5. Competences in the Field of Biology

5.1 Knowledge of the conceptual and theoretical foundations of biology, its place in the general system of sciences and values, its history of development, and its current state.

5.2 Ability to identify and describe biological diversity, assess it using modern methods of quantitative data processing, and understand the importance of biodiversity for the sustainability of the biosphere.

5.3 Ability to explain the patterns of development of the organic world, molecular foundations of heredity and variability, and methods of genetic analysis.

KC 6. Competences in the Field of Psychology

6.1 Ability to identify the psychological context based on the tasks of an educational institution; to determine psychological tasks within general objectives; to obtain and analyze relevant information; and to formulate general conclusions with practical orientation.

6.2 Ability to solve psychodiagnostic tasks; to carry out psychological counseling, corrective, and developmental work in individual and group formats in accordance with the needs of participants in the educational process; to differentiate developmental disorders and deviations in children; and to develop plans for psychological and pedagogical work in various types of institutions, taking into account patterns of learning and upbringing.

KC 7. Communicative Competence

7.1 Ability to establish and maintain necessary contacts with others, to communicate clearly and effectively.

7.2 Possession of knowledge in social sciences and humanities, ethical and legal norms regulating human relations with society, the environment, and culture; ability to organize one’s work on a scientific basis and continuously improve one’s knowledge.

7.3 Readiness to conduct classes using inclusive education methodologies and to develop written communicative competence for scientifically substantiated presentation of research results.

LO1. Analyzes knowledge of contemporary problems of philosophy and science and demonstrates mastery of methodological approaches that enable the acquisition and assimilation of objective and reliable scientific knowledge.

LO2. Applies the fundamentals of economic and legal knowledge, principles of sustainable development of society and nature, skills of protection in emergency situations, and methods for preserving human health.

LO3. Uses various means of academic oral and written communication to obtain information in the field of professional activity and for interpersonal communication.

LO4. Uses modern equipment and applied computer and information software.

LO5. Analyzes phylogenetic relationships and evolutionary pathways of the plant and animal world to solve professional and scientific tasks; explains the laws of natural sciences that influence the evolution of the organic world and priority directions of development of modern biology.

LO6. Describes the structure, molecular organization, and functional mechanisms of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, as well as methodological approaches used in genetics.

LO7. Applies basic principles of pedagogy and technologies of teaching biology in professional activity to design the educational process using innovative approaches, taking into account the special educational needs of learners.

LO8. Conducts scientific research with subsequent generalization of research and analytical work to solve specific biological problems, observing the principles of professional ethics and academic integrity.

LO9. Builds an individual trajectory of professional self-education, developing skills of self-development and reflection.

LO10. Integrates modern paradigms of psychological theory and practice for forecasting, planning, and designing professional functions aimed at preserving and strengthening the psychological health of participants in the educational process.

LO11. Conducts psychological diagnostics of various profiles to determine the degree of developmental deviations of individuals and factors hindering personality development.

LO12. Carries out counseling, corrective, and developmental work in individual and group formats in accordance with the age characteristics and intellectual development of a specific client.

LO13. Provides psychological and pedagogical support to children with special needs and their families.
