Objective

Training of specialists capable of implementing the educational process taking into account the individual interests and abilities of students, using modern pedagogical technologies and the achievements of biological and geographical sciences.

Graduates are awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Education in the Educational Program “Biology and Geography”.

Bachelors of Education may hold positions in accordance with the Standard Qualification Characteristics of Pedagogical Workers and Equivalent Persons (as amended and supplemented as of July 22, 2022).

Competencies

KC1. General Educational Competence:

1.1 Possesses the ability to understand and analyze worldview, socially and personally significant philosophical problems, analyze the main stages and patterns of historical development of Kazakhstan, its place and role in the modern world in order to form a civic position and develop patriotism, and navigate political, social, and economic processes.
1.2 Has basic knowledge in natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and economics that contributes to the formation of a highly educated individual with a broad outlook and cultured thinking.
1.3 Is able to formulate and practically solve problems in the field of geography, use information technologies in professional activities, teach in secondary and specialized educational institutions, successfully conduct research and educational activities, and possess skills for acquiring new knowledge necessary for everyday professional activity and continuing education at the master’s level.

KC2. Information Competence:

2.1 Information and Communication Competence:
– A set of teacher’s personal qualities, including the ability to independently search for, select, structure, organize, present, and transmit information using information and communication technologies.

2.2 Information Technology Competence:
– The teacher’s ability to engage in activities related to working with computing and office equipment, information technologies, and their practical application in daily life and educational activities.

2.3 Information and Analytical Competence:
– A set of teacher’s personal qualities, including the ability to generate new knowledge, forecast, and make management decisions based on available information, enabling readiness for independent research work.

KC3. Competence in the Field of Modern Innovations:

3.1 Possesses competencies in educational innovations, engages productively in the field of educational innovations, and is capable of implementing innovative educational activities.

KC7. Professional Competence:

7.1 Ability to organize and plan the teaching process within the framework of updated educational content.
7.2 Knowledge of methodological systems and techniques, with the ability to select and apply them in professional activities.
7.3 Ability to determine and organize forms and methods for assessing students’ knowledge under the updated educational program, including criterion-based assessment.
7.4 Conduct lessons using inclusive teaching methodology.

KC8. Research Competence:

8.1 Possesses skills to conduct physical-geographical and economic-geographical research.

KC9. Competence in Biology:

9.1 Knows the conceptual and theoretical foundations of biology, its place in the general system of sciences and values, its historical development, and current state.
9.2 Can identify and describe biological diversity, assess it using modern quantitative information processing methods, and understands the importance of biodiversity for biosphere sustainability.
9.3 Explains the patterns of development of the organic world, molecular foundations of heredity and variability, and methods of genetic analysis.

KC10. Competence in Geography:

10.1 Is able to work with cartographic, statistical, scientific, journalistic, and other sources of information.
10.2 Has an understanding of natural and social processes and phenomena, understands the capabilities of modern scientific methods for studying nature and society, and is able to apply them at a level necessary for solving tasks of physical-geographical and economic-geographical content arising in professional functions.

KC11. Communicative Competence:

11.1 Ability to establish and maintain necessary contacts with others, communicate clearly and naturally.
11.2 Possesses knowledge of social sciences and humanities, ethical and legal norms regulating human relations with other people, society, and the environment; has a cultured approach to thinking and organizing work based on scientific principles, continuously improving knowledge.
11.3 Ready to conduct lessons using inclusive teaching methodology; able to develop written communicative competence to present research results in a scientifically substantiated manner.

LO1. Applies the laws of socio-humanitarian development of modern society, skills in interpersonal, social, and professional communication, principles of academic writing in the state, Russian, and foreign languages, as well as lifelong self-development and self-education.

LO2. Analyzes information using modern information technologies and scientific research methods.

LO3. Applies the fundamentals of economic and legal knowledge, principles of sustainable development of society and nature, skills in protection during emergency situations, and health preservation.

LO4. Uses conceptual theories and laws of natural sciences to explain patterns, phenomena, and processes in nature and the economy.

LO5. Explains mechanisms and processes influencing the evolution of the organic world and the main postulates of molecular biology.

LO6. Conducts field and laboratory experiments and observations to study, identify, describe, and assess the state of environmental components.

LO7. Evaluates the functioning patterns of the geographical shell and the interaction of its components in time and space.

LO8. Analyzes natural features, mineral resources, socio-demographic and socio-economic potential of Kazakhstan.

LO9. Assesses the processes of formation, development, and functioning of natural, socio-economic, and political territorial systems.

LO10. Synthesizes knowledge of inclusive education principles to address problems in pedagogy and psychology.

LO11. Applies theoretical and experimental knowledge in pedagogy and teaching technologies for biology and geography to design the educational process using innovative approaches within updated curricula, including in distance learning contexts.

LO12. Uses scientific methods to solve professional tasks while adhering to the principles of academic integrity.
